《和》Harmony The Musical strives to honour historical events through artistic interpretation, providing a captivating space for public education. We aim to convey the enduring relevance of these stories, fostering a deeper understanding and connection with today’s world. Driven by a passion for transformative storytelling, our mission is to leverage diverse art forms as dynamic tools for preserving historical narratives and illuminating pressing social issues. Through these creative endeavours, we are dedicated to educating and engaging the public, fostering a deeper understanding and empathy for the complexities of our shared human experience.
The origin of our name
《和》Harmony is one of the traditional cultural values that Chinese strive for in any environment or situations. Harmony also relates to music where different sounds or voices are grouped together to form a cohesiveness that is pleasing to the ears. When thinking of ways to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the Chinese Immigration Act, and more specifically the history and journeys of the Calgary Chinese Canadians who lived through the dark years of Chinese exclusion, the word "Harmony" comes to mind because this is what we have always desired for. This is how the name of our musical came about.
Journey to the Spotlight - Audition Day
We had received an overwhelming response to our open casting call in February 2024, and we were so grateful to have a chance to meet a group of talented auditionee on our audition day – Mar. 9, 2024. The auditionees came equipped with many different talents, and we’re excited to have them in our cast!

First time anything is always a little nerve-wrecking, but our newly formed cast did their first table read well! They even bonded so quickly and the room was filled with lots of laughters!

After many months of preparations, the anticipation of seeing a series of full dress rehearsals is truly palpable! We have finally reached our final week of rehearsals and we are so looking forward to presenting this brilliant original musical to our audiences!
